“The next step in critical care echocardiography”
.
You asked. We listened. Same educational formula, advanced skills.
Building on the success of our flagship course, which has trained over 1800 clinicians on the fundamentals of resuscitative tee, The Advanced Resuscitative TEE Workshop is an immersive, hands-on course designed for clinicians with foundational training in resuscitative TEE who are ready to expand their skills.
Participants will build competency in advanced hemodynamic monitoring, severe valvular disease evaluation, regional wall motion analysis, and procedural guidance using TEE for critically ill patients. The course combines didactic sessions, case-based discussions, and extensive practical simulation to strengthen the clinical application of TEE in critical care.
Who is this workshop designed for?
The course is intended for physicians (attendings, fellows, residents) and advanced practice providers (PA, NP, CRNA) in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, or Anesthesiology who have completed prior foundational training in resuscitative TEE.
It is ideal for clinicians looking to deepen their echocardiographic assessment and procedural skills to manage critically ill patients.
Prerequisites
Participants must have completed The Resuscitative TEE Workshop or equivalent structured TEE training.
Recommended baseline skills include probe insertion, acquisition of basic TEE views, understanding of cardiac anatomy and TEE interpretation, and knowledge of the fundamentals of Doppler.
Multidisciplinary Faculty
Our expert faculty are field leaders from cardiac Anesthesiology, Critical Care, cardiology, and emergency medicine. Participants will benefit from a multidisciplinary teaching approach that integrates diverse perspectives on the use of TEE in critically ill patients.
CLINICAL INTEGRATION
small group didactic presentations discussing high-yield examples of TEE cases demonstrating pathology, pearls, and pitfalls to apply these concepts in clinical practice.
Recommended base knowledge
This advanced course requires previous skills and knowledge of the fundamentals of TEE. It is ideal for providers who have already taken The Resuscitative TEE Workshop (foundational course) or have received similar structured training. Specific knowledge and skills recommended for participants of this course include:
Motor skills:
Probe insertion technique
Fundamentals of image acquisition (i.e., be able to acquire mid-esophageal four-chamber view, transgastric short axis view, mid-esophageal long axis view, and bicaval view)
Cognitive skills:
Knowledge of fundamentals of TEE operation: transducer controls and omniplane
Understanding of the cardiac anatomy and the spatial orientation necessary to interpret TEE images
Ability to perform qualitative evaluation using basic views and identify basic pathological conditions pertinent to emergency and critical care (i.e., Global LV dysfunction, RV dysfunction, filling status, cardiac tamponade, aortic dissection, etc.)
Understanding Doppler principles (i.e., CD, PW, artifact/aliasing, angle, range ambiguity, etc.)
Scope and specific content to be covered in this course
The scope of this course centers on essential topics in advanced critical care transesophageal echocardiography. the core topics covered include:
TEE for Advanced Hemodynamic Monitoring (i.e., VTI for SV/CO and fluid responsiveness).
Evaluation of severe Valvular Disease (i.e., Mitral valve Anatomy, MR/MS assessment, Aortic valve Anatomy, AS/AR assessment, and TR).
Quantitative assessment of left and right ventricular function, and regional wall motion abnormalities (i.e.,FS, LV/RV FAC, Simpson’s, TAPSE, RV Strain, RV TEI, RV s’ TDI, and Regional Wall Motion correlation with coronary anatomy).
TEE guidance of endovascular procedures with a special focus on mechanical circulatory support devices (i.e., VV/VA ECMO, ECLS, IABP, Impella, and LAA assessment).
CME
The course will offer level 1 ama CME credits (accreditation pending)
FACULTY
A group of multidisciplinary faculty from Anesthesiology, CARDIOLOGY, CARDIAC, PULMONARY, AND SURGICAL/TRAUMA CRITICAL CARE, who have significant clinical practice and teaching experience with tee. our faculty include many of the world leaders of this emerging modality with significant experience in the use of tee in acute care and perioperative environments.
“The faculty make the course - They were outstanding, and though from different specialties, they are medical educators at heart. All faculty did a really good job explaining difficult concepts in a simple fashion...”
